Public schools in Charlottesville are run by Charlottesville City Schools (CCS), a school division separate from Albemarle County Public Schools. It serves students who live inside city limits; a Charlottesville mailing address alone does not mean a city school, because many homes with that address are in Albemarle County, which runs its own schools.
Only elementary schools have attendance zones. Children go to one of six neighborhood elementary schools for kindergarten through fifth grade, and then every city student attends Charlottesville Middle School and Charlottesville High School, according to the attendance zones page. To find an address’s elementary school, enter the street in the city’s GIS viewer, click the property and look under “Additional Data.”
