8 bakeries and doughnut shops inside Charlottesville city limits, with hours from each one's own site: West Main, Rose Hill, Preston Avenue, Belmont, Fry's Spring.
Last checked Oct. 19, 2026. Refreshed every three months.
Charlottesville’s bakeries are spread across the city, not grouped in one district. Two are downtown, on West Main Street and East Water Street; the rest are on Rose Hill Drive, Preston Avenue, Carlton Road in Belmont, Allied Lane off Emmet Street and Maury Avenue in Fry’s Spring, plus Panera at Barracks Road.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Charlottesville’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 19, 2026. Panera’s location page would not load for us; the Virginia Department of Health’s food inspection records list it as permitted with an inspection in the past year. We left out The Pie Chest, whose site now lists only pop-up pickups, Cumbre, whose latest state inspection is from early 2025, and Carpe Donut, whose web address no longer works. Bagel shops are on the breakfast and coffee list and cake shops on the ice cream and desserts list. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it.
