Charlottesville's where-to-eat lists in one place: wings, pizza, Mexican, barbecue, breakfast, burgers, Asian, desserts, bakeries, patios, brunch, date night.

Last checked Oct. 19, 2026. Refreshed every three months.

These are our plain, alphabetical lists of places to eat in Charlottesville, one page per kind of food. Each list gives the address, the hours the place publishes on its own website and a phone number. None of them is a ranking, and nobody pays to be on them.

How we made these lists. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Charlottesville’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 19, 2026. Where a place has no working website, we list it only if the Virginia Department of Health’s inspection records show it permitted with a recent inspection. Many places with a Charlottesville mailing address are in Albemarle County; those are not on these lists. Run a restaurant? Write to us to correct your entry.

Where the food is

Across the lists, the same few places come up again and again. The Downtown Mall has the widest choice, from coffee and ice cream to sushi, burgers and patio dining. West Main Street, running from downtown to the University of Virginia, is the city’s restaurant row. The Corner on University Avenue is the late-night strip, Belmont and Ix have a cluster of their own, and Emmet Street North and Barracks Road carry most of the chains.
