5 places for barbecue inside Charlottesville city limits: two barbecue restaurants, a Korean barbecue spot and two kitchens that smoke their own pork.
Last checked Oct. 19, 2026. Refreshed every three months.
Charlottesville has only two barbecue restaurants inside its city limits: Moe’s Original BBQ on Ivy Road and Vision BBQ on Ridge McIntire Road, just west of downtown. Two more kitchens, one on West Main Street and one on the Downtown Mall, smoke their own pork, and a Korean barbecue restaurant is on Zan Road off Seminole Trail.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Charlottesville’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 19, 2026. A restaurant that is not a barbecue place is on the list only if its own menu names house-smoked barbecue. We left out Ace Biscuit and Barbecue on Concord Avenue, which state health records list as closed, and Red Hub Food Co., which takes catering and carryout orders with 48 hours’ notice, not walk-in customers. Mission BBQ’s Charlottesville restaurant is at Stonefield, outside the city limits. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it.
